Rescreen vs Tella

Both record your screen and camera and share a link. Rescreen edits the take for you when you stop, and has a free plan. Tella gives you a fuller editor to clean it up yourself, plus desktop apps and team features.

Pick Rescreen if

  • You want the video edited when you stop recording, not after an editing session.
  • You want to record, edit and share without paying. Tella has a seven-day trial, not a free plan.
  • You would rather not install anything.
  • You pay for yourself: Rescreen Pro is $10 / month billed yearly, Tella Pro $13 / user / month.

Stay with Tella if

  • You want a desktop app for Mac or Windows.
  • Your company needs SSO, SCIM or a SOC 2 Type II report.
  • You share to customers and want viewer analytics, embeds, a custom domain or Slack, Notion and Linear integrations.
  • You want an AI assistant that edits from a chat.

The edit is done when you stop

Stop recording in Rescreen and the edit starts on its own. It cuts the dead time, mistakes, retakes, filler words and silences, zooms into what you click, levels your voice and speeds up stretches where the screen is still. You open a finished video, not a timeline.

Tella adds layouts, backgrounds and zooms as you record. Taking out mistakes, filler words and silences is a step you run in its editor, and the Tella Agent, which edits from a chat, uses monthly credits.

Every Rescreen edit can be changed: restore a cut, remove more, or adjust a zoom. The original recording is kept.

Rescreen's editor after a recording: 0:26 from 0:55 of recording, 2 zooms, 21 seconds shortened and 2 cuts of dead time
Rescreen's editor right after a 55-second take. Without any editing it is down to 26 seconds, with two zooms and the dead time at each end cut.

A free plan, not a trial

Tella has no free plan. You get seven days of Pro, then it is $13 per user per month billed yearly, or $26 monthly.

Rescreen is free to record, edit and share, with unlimited recordings up to five hours each. Pro adds downloads in 4K, 2K and HD for $10 a month billed $120 yearly, or $20 monthly. See pricing.

Where Tella is ahead

Tella is the better fit in a few cases, and it is worth being plain about them.

  • Desktop apps. Tella has apps for Mac and Windows as well as a browser recorder. Rescreen runs in the browser only.
  • Teams and security. SSO and SCIM as add-ons or on Enterprise, and a SOC 2 Type II report for Enterprise customers.
  • Sharing to customers. Embeds, comments, call-to-action buttons, viewer analytics, custom domains on Premium, and Slack, Notion and Linear integrations.
  • An editor with more controls. Blur, highlights, subtitle styling and an AI assistant that edits from a chat.

If those matter more than getting a finished video without editing, Tella is the stronger choice.
